1 cup light Karo corn syrup
1 cup granulated sugar
½ teaspoon salt

2 cups corn flakes
2 cups crisp rice cereal
1 cup (6 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
½ cup (3 ounces) peanut butter chips (optional)

Pour Karo syrup, sugar and salt into a large saucepan. Stir over medium high heat until sugar dissolves and mixture begins to boil. Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter.

Stir in oatmeal, corn flakes and crisp rice cereal. Pour into greased 8-inch square pan and set aside. Top with melted chocolate or peanut butter chips if desired.

If topping, melt chocolate chips in small saucepan over lowest heat, stirring constantly. Spread over bars. Melt peanut butter chips in small saucepan over lowest heat. Using small spoon, dot or drizzle onto bars in any design you prefer. Cut into squares or triangles.

Makes 32.

Tip: To make seasonal cookies, spread into 13” x 9” pan. Once set, cut into shapes and decorate.
