My French Friday with Dorie and Friends

eiffel towerIt’s so rare that I have a double-post day, but I had the most amazing experience this morning I can’t resist.

About a dozen bloggers and bakers showed up to welcome the lovely Dorie Greenspan to Chicago, and Dorie was gracious enough to get up early to have coffee with admirers who came out to celebrate the launch of her new book Around My French Table.  It was a love fest with faces behind To Kiss The Cook, The Local Beet, Hearty Boys, Go Go Chicago, In the Supermarket and Chef Druck, along with Lu, Sheila, Whitney, Kyle and Lauro.  Hope I didn’t miss anyone, because all should get a nod for showing up at such an hour, particularly Dorie, who had a 20-hour day yesterday (ah, the glamour of the book tour.)

And to carry on our French theme for today, you can pop over to Misadventures With Andi, where I’m guest posting while she enjoys a Parisian get-away.  I write about how it’s possible to invoke a little Paris into your life, no matter where you live.  All you need is the proper joie de vivre!

Just read a fabulous article on Dorie from the Philadelphia Inquirer and remembered once again how nice that was last week. Thank you again for organizing!

Janine, I just got my post up about our breakfast and wanted to thank you so much for including me. Dorie is such an amazing woman and it was truly a privilege to meet her. I hope that you and I get to see each other again soon. I really enjoyed chatting with you.

And what a stunning picture of the Eiffel Tower!
